Focus

Youth Ministry at Mount Olive Lutheran Church focuses on ministry to and through young people beginning in 6^th grade and continuing through post high. We are committed to creating and maintaining an environment for spiritual growth. We focus on nurturing young people in their relationship with our Lord and Savior within the context of their families, church and communities. We celebrate the growth of each young person in their relationship with Jesus Christ including their response to His saving grace.

Goals

Through Youth Ministry, Mount Olive strives to ensure that young Christians are confident and able to share their faith and know Jesus as their personal Savior. It is our prayer that our youth

are equipped to live an independent faith life
learn to conduct faith-based decision-making in their daily lives through knowledge of God’s Word and God’s Love
develop interdependent relationships through Christian fellowship and service activities

Programs

To best serve the young people of our congregation, our Youth Ministry is organized into three age-focused programs:

Middle school ministry (ACTS), grades 6-8
High school ministry (LYF), grades 9-12
Post high & college years

Sunday Morning "Step by Step"

Each Sunday between Labor Day and Memorial Day, the LYF meets in the Youth Room for "Step by Step" during education hour. Step by Step is a time of fellowship, Bible study, prayer, and discussion. The Sunday morning Step by Step time provides a relaxed environment for the youth to go deeper in their faith.

Summer Trips

Since 1999, LYF has gone on summer trips to either LCMS National Youth Gatherings or mission trips. Some of the past trips have been to the following cities:

Rosebud Reservation, South Dakota
San Francisco, California
New Orleans, Louisiana
Orlando, Florida
Marvell, Arkansas
Hyde County, North Carolina
Brooklyn, New York

These summer trips continue to be a favorite event for the youth. The trips provide a full week for the youth to grow in fellowship with one another and to strengthen and maintain their relationship with God. Pictures of some past trips are shown below.
